Bulk Import - CSV Template Path

The most effective way of uploading a large number of tracks into your Meta application is through the "upload manager" feature.

You will find the "upload manager" feature inside Meta in the top right corner.

Here are the steps to follow for a successful ingestion:

1 - Create an ingestion & name it

Once created, your ingestion will appear in your ingestion grid. Click on its name to start the process.

A panel like the one below will open. Select the "From CSV" option.

If you do not have a metadata spreadsheet at your disposal, do not worry the "ID3 upload" does not require anything but the audio files you are looking to upload. Click on the following link to view our guide on the "ID3 upload": ID3-bulk-upload

2 - Settings

Tell us a bit more about the CSV spreadsheet you are looking to import into your Mewo account:

  • What language are the tags contained in your spreadsheet in?
  • What date format is used on your spreadsheet?

This information will enable our system to correctly parse your spreadsheet.

We also give you the ability to normalize artists' names. To activate this option click on the normalize switch. Once activated our system will disregard cases and accents in order to match artists found in your spreadsheet to those existing in your Mewo account.

I.e: "michael buble" (in your CSV spreadsheet) will be matched with "Michael Bublé" in your Mewo database.

We have made a short video showcasing how to fill the settings fields: Upload Manager - Step 1 - Settings

3 - Upload your binaries files (.WAV, .AIF, .MP3, JPG)

It is now time to upload audio files and artworks to your Mewo account. We accept most of the mainstream formats. Please note that our system will automatically generate a .MP3, file from any .WAV. We therefore always recommend uploading in .WAV in order to have the two formats at your disposal.

To upload drag and drop the file into the drop zone or click on the drop zone to start browsing your computer.

We don't recommend adding one audio file after the other in this upload interface (It would be extremely time-consuming). We recommend creating a "master folder" containing all the audio files and artwork you wish to import. You simply need to drag and drop that file into the zone.

4 - Upload a .CSV file containing the metadata

Your metadata must be a .CSV file encoded in UTF-8 following our template. Please make sure to use our template and respect our columns. If not our system will not be able to process your metadata.

If you need any help filling out your Mewo CSV template please check out the following documentation:

5 - Keyword matching

As I am sure you already are aware, we offer a community-curated lexicon of 1200 keywords linked to 2000 synonyms. Even then it's very likely your .CSV will contain keywords our system is not familiar with. To make sure we are able to match your lexicon to ours's we ask you to carefully review our matching options.

The column on the left "Unmatched Tags" are the keywords our system has extracted from your .CSV. The column on the right "Replace with" is our system proposing matching suggestions. Some will be accurate, some less.

For instance "jazz" should not be matched with "swing". Simply click on the red cross by the word to delete and find the keyword which matches best the situation.

We have made a short video showcasing how to match your tags with the Mewo lexicon: Upload Manager - Step 3 - Tags matching

5 - Version Matching

In a similar fashion to the keyword matching, please match your versions with our versions. The goal here is to make sure our system is able to recognize the versions and nest them with the correct tracks.
