How do I setup my own domain name?
Once you have chosen the website URL you would like to have, simply fill in the corresponding input on the General Settings page like below:
Once you have filled the input, we will display a DNS target value (in pink), which your website will have to point to. Copy the value with the trailing dot at the end. In our example, we chose to use www as our sub-domain. (Domain providers often allow using WWW as your sub domain)
Now go on your domain name provider’s website, for the purpose of this article, we will use OVH. In the menu, select the Web tab, and open “Domains” to find your domain, click on it to go to its page.
Once there, go to your DNS Zone tab, and click on the “Add an entry” button.
For the type of entry, select CNAME and click next.
Once that is done, you can fill in the subdomain that you have chosen, in our case “www” and copy-paste the DNS target you have copied earlier, remember to check if there is the trailing dot at the end of the target value.
Once you are done, you will have a recap that should look like this. Click on confirm and you are all done!
Your website should now be linked and should be able to be accessed in the following hours. You might notice on the first time going there that your website is “Not secured”. Do not worry, an SSL certificate is in the process of being generated and will secure your website. If this doesn’t happen within 24 hours, please do contact us.
