What is a sync ?

A "sync", also called "synch" (short for "synchronisation") defines the act of associating a musical piece to another work, most commonly a video. Someone requesting a sync autorisation, needs to obtain a specific license from the rights owners, which might be traded for money. Over the past 20 years, syncs have became a significant source of income for the music industry.
